Decaf coffee? yucks !

Last month the Boss  brought a bottle of decaf coffee & place it in the office pantry. Ever since then, everyone has been totally going "decaf " for health reasons. Or maybe they just want free coffee. Not sure if it's all in the mind or whatever, they all reported feeling sleepy after drinking ,as its "DECAF" after all, supposedly no caffeine. The mass tiredness felt became like an excuse to work at snail pace, or maybe everyone is just in a holiday mood.

Seriously no office or workplace should provide a drink that doesn't enhance productivity while at the same time making people's breath smell like rotting spinach!

Last week I came to work & noticed the bottle of decaf - gone. The Boss has not replaced it with another bottle since then ...lol...

I feel guilty all the time.

Do you feel guilty all the time ? I do.
I feel guilty for lazing in my bed for an extra 10 mins this morning.
I feel guilty that I didnt reply my boss's SMS last night (he sent it pass 12 mid night)
I feel guilty I didn't reply that SMS immediately when I get up, I brushed my teeth first.

I read a book recently, it says: Don't feel guilty for feeling guilty !
We should accept guilt is part of us, like cellulite.
Think of it, it makes sense:
Guilt does makes me work harder, in the future I'll  probably answer my Boss's sms even if its way after hours.
Guilt means I'll always be early or at least on time for all appointments.
It'll make me be nicer to people, & buy tissue from old people.
Pay my bills on time.
Guilt turns life into a long guilt trip, but in a good way....lol...

Durians & MRT ...lol..

A few of my Hong Kong friends were in town for 3 days. Being host I took them around. We had a lot of fun. It's the first time to Singapore for Andy, the 21 year old younger brother of one of them. The most unforgettable thing about their stay was their ride on our MRT.

The comparison to their MTR (as what they call it in Hong Kong) is unavoidable. What we lack in speed, we made up for space. Ours not as crowded. And of course newer. Plus we are funnier ....lol.. Yes we are : Just look at the sign below. Andy took multiple pictures of this sign & sms to all his Hong Kong buddies immediately. We laughed non-stop , at his excitement , which is very hilarious- In fact I didn't even noticed this sign till now. I can't help but took a picture of it too, while rest of the commuters looked on, amused !

How indispensable are you?

My mum has been nagging at me since I have been working very late recently. Not because there was work to be done. The company is rationalizing, so everyone was sticking to their desk like glue after the nominal going-home time, to show how indispensable they were. I had more than my comfortable ration of nocturnal MRT travel recently & it is starting to get on my nerves. It's silly right? But I can't be seen leaving early while everyone is staying back!

I long for the good old days ...sob...

How to ask your boss for a raise ?

Yesterday My colleague was so fed up with work, wanted to ask my Boss for a raise. I stopped him! I told him - You want to do this right. According to some psychiatrists, there's a good and bad time to ask for a pay raise. They say your boss has a weekly cycle of moods and you want to make sure you pick the right time.

Take Monday to ask for a vacation. Your boss just enjoyed his or her weekend and will be in a better mood and will be more willing to grant you some time off.

Tuesday is the day for bad news. Break it gently. This gives your boss the rest of the week to clean up your mess....LOL....

The day to ask for a raise? Wednesdays. This survey says managers told them they felt more charitable on Wednesdays than any other day.

If you have new ideas, present them to your boss on Thursdays. They're more open-minded.

Friday is the day to ask for favors. After all, bosses are looking forward to the weekend, too.

Good luck!!!

Most productive day ever ....

Hope my basil will look like this soon:)
-went to a plant nursery in Thomson, picked up gardening soil, pots ,fertilizer, seeds (mint, basil ), and gardening gloves
-went to IKEA to return some things - ended up getting the exact same things but in different sizes/pieces
-cashed a check at DBS  ( omg... the queue .....)
-cleaned the living room, kitchen, toilets & balcony
-planted two indoor pots of basil, and one outdoor pot of mint
-did the dishes
-pay my bills online
-answer my emails

My parents decided to spent the day at JB. The fact that I am blogging about such mundane details (with such pride) makes me realize that I will very soon feel like I am living alone.

damnit, I just realized I have not clean the Micro oven. grrr.

Will milk save us???

Save me please !!!!!!
I noticed there's a change in the contents of the fridge at home. Usually it's the usual, coke, mum's food, etc.. But lately I've noticed more milk ,yogurt & other dairy products. In the past I'm the one in my family who'll consume such things, but these are not mine.

Ask mum, & she said ,her friend , told her people who consume at least 1 serving of diary products a day will have better memory than those who went without. Hmmm... she then revealed she has been forgetting things & dad the same.

Goodness, I noticed I'm suffering from this symptom as well! Does it runs in the family??? Are we losing our mind? Will the milk save us?

Valentine's Day so predictable :))

Love pink roses :))
Valentine's Day is no different from CNY, same old thing every year. I went for the traditional Valentine's Day dinner. Dinner prices & roses were all unnaturally increased, for suckers like us. It's not even that romantic after all the commercialization. Ok.... I don't want to sound ungrateful, it's sweet but it's so predictable.

I would love if my boy friend would to cook for me- yes! That'll moved me to tears! OR hand make a gift, e.g. attempt to paint something, that'll be so cool. Or compose a love song or write a poem to express his love. But no chance ... he's too busy. Buying a dinner, flowers & gift is so much easier & faster.

Steamboat again for CNY eve?

Chinese New Year's eve is upon us again & we are forever having the steamboat! Don't think it'll ever change. Just like the westerners having turkey for Christmas. Well I'm not a fan, because we eat it all the time. Dad likes the steamboat fish head, so we are always having that at the store hereby.

I do like these :))
Wish we can go to have some buffet at a hotel for once. I don't mind paying. Told my mum that & she looked at me with wisdom in her eyes & said " hotels slaughter people like us during festive seasons". Well she's right, it's true, but it's just business. I do love the atmosphere. It's like Valentines' day, I've already booked a table for two at a lovely place- it's costly but it's worth it. Don't know about my bf though. He just go "anything also can" .....lol....

OK back to my steamboat, I find myself having evil thoughts - like wishing it'll run out of gas half way. But before I could go on to the next evil thought, my mum already (as if reading my mind again) ask me to get ready the spare gas (she just bought new ones...probably just in case someone curse the steamboat during the last minute preparation ...lol....)

I took fat burner GarbaSlim, Panbesy & Duromine & lost weight successfully !

3 weeks ago I finally decided that I should do something about my weight. I had pretend it's OK but it's not. I looked at my pictures & only like a year ago, I was looking great. Not sure what happened. Was it my love for pop corn or soft drinks or late night snacks & supper, probably a deadly combination of them, I've gain like a ton !!! So sad :((
Fat Burner , Garbaslim
Finally I went to my Dr Keith for help. Feel a little embarrassed to be talking about my weight gain. Thank goodness Dr Keith is super friendly & nice. In the end I brought home 3 lower dose of Panbesy, 1 month's supply of 30 mg of Duromine. I ask for fat burner as I wanted to have faster & better results. I bought 2 months supply of fat burner GarbaSlim.

Day 1,2 &3: took Panbesy & fat burner GarbaSlim. First day I ran to the toilet 3 times !!! The nurses already told me the Garbaslim has this effect for most people. I'm pleased as I was having constipation before. I feel totally detoxed & happy after ...lol... Other side effects were minimum at this point maybe because of the lower dosage.

Day 4: Start on the Duromine which is higher dose. Feel thirsty most of the day, I sip water & did not drink like a horse, to prevent water retention. My appetite was suppressed. Don't feel hungry & have no urge to eat during lunch & dinner. Ate a little porridge & was full already.... so weird ..haha. I feel strangely energized too- took advantage of that to run up & down the stairs to exercise my lazy muscles. I slept at 12 midnight, usually I sleep at 11.

Garbaslim, a month supply
Day 7 -Day21: My urge to have lunch & dinner came back but I don't need to eat much, not like before. So it's OK. In all, I ate much much lesser than what I did before. I could stop all snacks as there's no urge to eat them. No suppers. No fruits,as they are sweet & acidic: acidic things increase the appetite.  I lost about 4 kg within this time. I stop the Duromine after 3 weeks but will continue with the fat burner Garbaslim for a while. I'm so glad for these weight loss meds, as there's no way I could lose so much weight so quickly if I go by the conventional way. I promise I'll eat healthy from now on.
